Zaktualizowano: 27 sie 2021

Poles have already borrowed a record PLN 500 billion (approx. EUR 109.5 billion) from banks for flats and houses. The number of mortgage loans granted in the first half of 2021 increased by almost 23%, but their value – by as much as 33%, which means that we need higher and higher amounts of money to buy real estate. The average value of the loan reached an unprecedented level of PLN 318,000 (EUR 69,658). The increase in borrowed amounts is also observed in other loans: installment and cash.

In the first half of this year, an increase in both the number and value of granted loans was recorded in each segment of the loan market. The total debt of households at the end of June amounted to PLN 712 billion (approx. EUR 155.962 billion).

During this period, mortgages recorded the strongest rebound, constituting 70% of the value of the entire loan portfolio. Banks granted over 132,000 such products for the amount of PLN 41.6 billion (approx. EUR 9.117).

"We estimate that the entire year 2021 will end with a sale of loans at a level exceeding PLN 80 billion (approx. EUR 17.523 billion) which will also be a record value in the history of observing this market," announced dr M. Cholewa, the president of BIK.
